Hunting a Witch
After having read the notes Hendrik had left behind, I was on a cold trail; trying to find the forementioned Witch Ciri had been seen quarreling with. My only clue: Midcopse. Before I even had a chance to set off however, I was stopped by bandits who had someone captured in a cage - I couldn’t let that be.
After a hard ride, a stop at The Inn at the Crossroads where I found a Commander’s Horn Gwent Card, relieving the world of an additional bandit camp, and a chat with a peasant who asked me to help revive a few shrines - I had finally found my way to Midcopse around sunset.
I had picked up a few notices, including Looking For Work, Contract: Jenny o’ the Woods, Don’t Eat Cats, and Mysterious Dreams. Repent appears to expand on some of the other notices I’ve collected so far.
Repent
The Ladies of the Wood are unhappy - so the trees whisper. The offerings we mark are not enough, we pray too seldom, and too often we take their name in vain. Mend your ways, good folk, show contrition and fervor in your faith, for if the Ladies too abandon us, we'll all perish in this forsaken bog.
I met with a merchant in Midcopse where I was able to off load a few miscellaneous items, and also provided me with the following Gwent Cards: Northern Realms Poor ****ing Infantry, Northern Realms Crinfrid Reavers Dragon Hunter, and Nilfgaardian Empire Morteisen. I offered up a round of Gwent, and after easily beating the merchant, giving me a Northern Realms, Siege Tower, I moved on. Following the merchant I went to the Armorer and had my Armor and Weapons repaired, but who was also up for Gwent. I received a Nilfgaardian Empire Vanhemar Card from him.
Note: Armorer has plenty of money to trade with
After asking around, and getting past a stingy peasant using Axii, I was given what I needed to find the Witch. From Midcpose I went to the pond and found the lone rock, I took a right to find an abandoned cart. I ran into a group of Nekkers where I picked up two Nekker Hearts, Nekker Blood, and three Nekker Eyes. A group of people stood outside the Witches Hut, where I found of all people, the Witch - Keira Metts.
I walked into the Witches Hut where I found ordinary ointment, a black eye-liner recipe, a normal candle, a collection of books, a mirror, and a letter to Alexander - but no Witch. There was however, a powerful artifact that when interacted with opened a portal. It lead me to a beautiful structure, in the middle of - who knows where - to find only a bathing sorceress.
Keira disclosed the recent… events happening in Velen. That she has been in hiding as King Radovin had sent his Witch Hunters out on a murderous rampage, burning books, hanging soothsayers, and torturing herbalists. It seems that all the sorceresses from the lodge are in hiding to avoid the wrath of said Witch Hunters. I hope that Triss Merigold hasn’t gotten herself into any trouble.
After getting to the point and asking whether or not Keira had talked to Ciri, she claimed that there had been no such interaction. In fact, she didn’t even know Ciri had been seen in Velen, much less having spoke to her. She revealed that there was an Elven Mage, however, that had appeared to ask her about the whereabouts of an ashen haired woman - she knew not of the woman, who we now assume was describing Ciri - but that she could lead me to the Elven Mage’s laboratory.
