Lilac and Gooseberries Part One

I startled awake from a dream that left me with an all too familiar anxiety, one I’ve lived long with. Dreaming of her has always been a terrible omen, a sign that she was in danger; but I, a mere Witcher, have not the power to find a world wanderer. This only hastens me on my quest to find the woman from my letter, my dear friend.

Note: always check large dead trees for gold

I found a good number of things scavenging the battle field, near where we camped. Including a recipe for Albedo, a Dead Soldier’s Letter, a place of power, and I found a black crystal in the shape of a raven skull, perhaps it belongs to Yennefer? I also picked up 14 Swords, 52 Blunt Axes, 2 Horse Hides, and a few crafting materials: Amethyst, and Meteorite Silver Plate.

Unfortunately, this Letter I found will never make it to Gustav, nor will Johenn ever see home again. I did find the stash of valuables, however. And they were not far from where I found the note, it was there on the beach behind the two ruined huts, just like the writer said it would be. The sword I found might even be of use.

Traveling towards town, Vesimer and I came across a traveling merchant who was bein attacked by an older, male, Griffin - we couldn’t do much about the Griffin, but we did save the merchant, Bram, from it’s attack. The Griffin flew off with Bram’s mare… maybe someone will offer us a contract in town.

We road into White Orchard and its only tavern, the people there were unsettled by the battle that was recently lost; a warm welcome to Emperor Emhyr awaits him. Of course the people of this town didn’t seem overly pleased to see us, but I was able to pick up a contract. No one wants us Witchers around until we can be of use to them.

At the tavern Bram’s kin was very kind, provided us with provisions, as well as a few gwent cards. One Decoy, and then a Northern Realms Catapult, Blue Stripes Commando, Crinfrid Reavers Dragon Hunter, and the Foltest card. I even came across a Zoltan Chivey card before I even left the Tavern.

There I met Gaunter O’Dimm, a Merchant of Mirrors and self proclaimed ‘vagrint’, who knew Yennefer just by description alone - and knew me on sight. He offered I might ask the local garrison to get the whereabouts on Yennefer.

Yennefer’s Letter:

Dear friend,

Forgive me for not asking about your health or how you have been these last years. Time is very short.

I have important news. We must meet, and soon. Ride to Willoughby, near Vizima, and don’t spare the horses - while I do eagerly await our reunion, I won’t be able to wait, eagerly or otherwise, very long.

Your dear friend,

Yennefer.

P.S. I still have the unicorn
