WELCOME TO THE DRAW DAILY FANTASY DRAWING COURSE

What is the Fantasy Drawing Course?

The Fantasy Drawing Course is a free fantasy-focused beginners drawing course. It is based off of what is known as construction drawing in the artist community.

What Is Construction Drawing?

Constructive drawing is one of the more versatile and creatively liberating methods of drawing that artists have at their disposal. Construction involves mastering fundamental, but rudimentary, perspective drawing principles that simplify otherwise complex subject matter. By breaking down a subject into basic shapes, artists can reimagine small elements, or entire compositions using only their intuition and creativity to bring their vision to life.

Alternative methods, such as those drilled into us in secondary school, relied almost entirely on observation. Observation which required looking at physical objects, and simply drawing them based on where they appeared to be in the composition. Short of getting up to adjust said objects or switching them out, they were impossible to modify. This puts extreme limitations on what an artist can create based solely on what is observable.

Constructive drawing frees artists from these constraints, allowing full creative control over the subject matter as well as other elements like composition and lighting. Mastering the Perspective techniques and other lessons throughout this course will give you the ability and freedom to create worlds beyond just what you can see in front of you.

How This Course Works

Although Draw Daily is primarily a free drawing course for budding artists, we aim to nurture more than just drawing skills. We believe in a more well rounded education for students, providing elements to our course that encourage development to our students creativity, problem solving, and design skills as well; all essential components to the artistic process.

Our Mission

In the process of figuring out how to provide a fun and unique way to teach the otherwise mundane process of learning to draw - along with our passion for fantasy and role playing games - we landed on creating a Quest Line. This is intended to intermingle and develop all the skills our students need, beyond just drawing. Creativity, design, and storytelling are pivotal skills as well. These aspects make your artwork more alluring to the audience.

You’ll be able to start off on your journey as soon as you create a character as outlined on the next page. Your character is never set in stone, so you have complete freedom to change, alter, or completely swap out your character at any time. If you have a hard time creating characters, there are a few examples on the next page that you can use.
