THE CHARACTER

CHARACTER CREATION

Called by something ancient, you, dear adventurer, have dared to listen.
It speaks and in its voice you sense something unnatural. You sense it is not born of this world - instead is the magic from which all worlds are woven. However, before the magic can fully reveal itself to you, it whispers and it asks but one question:

Who are you, in this realm of ink and instinct?

Only you, as the chosen one, can become anyone in a world conjured by magic, and only you have been given the power to shape it to your will. You are the artificer of your own destiny and who you are awaits. Every story begins with a spark, and it is now your turn to light it.

So go. Explore the edges of existence. The known, unknown, all that is, all that was, and all that could be.

All possibilities wait within the threads you weave.

Choose Your:

Species

Every character comes from somewhere, and each character has a long lineage from which their physical form was forged. You can choose to walk an ordinary path as a human, but it is you who has the power to conjure both myths and ledges. Trust your abilities chosen one, and allow your creativity to mold the world you wish to bring to life.

Ability

A character’s ability could be obvious. For example, a fighter may rely on a pure strength; or they could take advantage of being swift and nimble. Choose One: Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma.

Class

A character’s class offers insight into their talents and describes what kind of skills and abilities they wield. Common examples include Fighters, Wizards, Clerics, and Rouges, but you are free to shape a path that is uniquely your own.

Environment

While a character’s species, class,  profession, and abilities can reveal a lot about who they are, the world they inhabit gives added nuance and depth to a character. The environment they call home can shape who they are as a person.

Profession

While a character’s Class reveals their broader talents, their Profession speaks to their role in the world. A fighter, for example, could be a sell-sword for hire or a sworn knight serving a benevolent king. What Profession will you don?

Gear or Equipment

By establishing a clear picture of who your character is, what they do, and where they dwell, you can begin to uncover what pins,  baubles, or curios  they carry on their person. It is usually the simplest trinket that can reveal insights about their backstory.

Backstory

Now that the spark is lit and the ancient magic draws closer - you must answer. Who are you?

Begin by shaping your story by considering things like your demeanor. Are you quiet but strong, a notorious liar, or a calculated but kind leader? What best describes your place in this world? Are you a noble-born scholar destined for greatness? A mysterious wanderer damned to walk the earth forever? Or a heir hidden away to protect you from an evil sorcerer?

Who do you hold close? Your family, friends, a mentor, a long-lost love? What traits best define you? What morals guide you to action? What drives you to continue onward? Perhaps you foster a secret duty, are plotting revenge, or maybe something even stranger? These threads shape your myth and weave your tapestry. So take a breath and steady your pen, it is time to weave your own legend.
