LESSON TEN

C-Curves are the simplest curve, and to take it one step further we have S-Curves. Like the C-curve, this type of line gets its name from resembling the letter “S”. There are an unlimited number of ways the S-Curve can be portrayed, so feel free to practice unique lines each time you approach this exercise. As you might imagine, we are going to continue using Over Laying here.

Exercise Seven

We want to focus on having the ability to achieve specific lines quickly and accurately so that we can thoughtlessly rely on our instinct to tell a story. The point of the assignment is to trace the curve ten times doing your best to keep your lines as close to the example as possible. This means that you want to do your very best at reaching each dot as closely as you can. Remember, the goal is for your curves to disappear into one another so that your accuracy is such that you can’t even tell that the line was traced multiple times. However, my previous points still stands, we are not looking for complete perfection. This can be a very fun exercise if you relax into it and just let your hand flow. Over time your accuracy will improve and it will get a lot easier.
