ASSIGNMENT NINE

For this assignment I am going to show you a real life example as to how one could creatively use this technique to accurately transfer a pattern, such as this garage, in perspective. The process is going to be just a tad bit more involved, requiring you to map out both the heights and spaces necessary to transfer these measurements.

First, you need to establish foreground lines both vertically and horizontally that match the pattern’s height and width. Mark out your heights along the vertical line, and along the bottom mark out the width of the garage, as well as where each panel of the garage door sits.

This shouldn’t be too complicated, there are only 9 points that need marking. Two along the vertical line, and seven along the horizontal line.

Once you have this established, you can move or copy your measurements over to the plane. I, honestly, eyeballed the approximate width of this plane, but aimed for it to only be a little wider than it was tall.

Follow the process of creating a special vanishing point before connecting the marks with the appropriate vanishing point. The only added task is to figure out how to draw the triangle for the roof using your marks.
